MEC Lehari calls for law compliance on the streets and roads of NW during elections

MEC Lehari calls for law compliance on the streets and roads of NW during elections With a few hours left for the South African citizens to exercise their voting rights during the 2021 Local Government Elections, the North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari appeals to communities for total compliance.

MEC Lehari said people’s cooperation during this weekend will contribute a lot towards free and fair local government elections.

“We understand that a lot of people are travelling to their different voting destinations, and that increases the volumes of traffic on our roads and people’s movements on the streets. We therefore appeal to our motorists, pedestrians and everyone in general to comply with all rules of the law wherever they are.” urged MEC Lehari who emphasised the state of readiness of Law Enforcement Authorities in the Province.

“In the Province we do have men and women in law enforcement who are very dedicated and committed in ensuring compliance for us to achieve free and fair local government elections,” he said. MEC Lehari led the operation after distributing vehicles for traffic stations in the Bojanala District. The vehicles that are bought to increase visibility on the main roads of the Province were officially handed over by North West Premier Bushy Maape last week.

After distributing the vehicles, MEC Lehari, who was accompanied by the Provincial Traffic Director Paul Stone, led the operation in Mmotla village in Mathibestad in the Bojanala District.

MEC concluded by pleading to citizens to go and vote in numbers. He further encouraged those who haven't vaccinated to go and vaccinate at the centres next to the voting stations.
